Newborn Care

Personal Care, Right From the Start

We would love to meet your family and provide both expert guidance and quality medical care from the day your new baby is born. We aim to provide the best in pediatric care while maintaining the personal touch of a small independent group practice.

We are unique in that our first visit happens right in the hospital—we come to you, and we often visit daily. Our doctors have privileges at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin Birth Center, Wheaton Franciscan St. Joseph Milwaukee, Wheaton Franciscan Elmbrook Memorial, and West Allis Memorial Hospital.

Most newborns have their first visit to our office within 48 hours after discharge to check on their weight, feeding, and answer your questions. This visit is followed by a series of Well Child Check-ups, focused on your child’s growth and development, and any health concerns you may have.

 Frequently Asked Newborn Questions

Can I meet one of the pediatricians prior to joining your practice?
Yes you can! While not a requirement, "parents-to-be" often choose to meet one of our pediatricians prior to their "new arrival". Expectant families new to the area or looking for a new pediatrician are also welcome to meet one of our pediatricians. Feel free to bring your child or children along! Simply call (414) 774-9200 during weekday clinic hours to schedule an appointment if you would like this opportunity. There is no fee for this visit.

What hospitals do the pediatricians go to?
Our pediatricians all have staff privileges at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, Aurora West Allis Medical Center, Ascension Hospital - Elmbrook Campus, Ascension - St. Joseph Hospital and Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin Birth Center.

What if my pediatrician doesn't go to the hospital at which I am delivering?
Don't worry! One of the pediatricians at the hospital will visit your baby daily until they go home. Call our office the day you leave the hospital to schedule your newborn visit at Tosa Pediatrics.

How will the pediatrician know to come to the hospital after our delivery?
When you register at the hospital before your delivery, indicate on the admission form who you intend to have as your child's pediatrician. The hospital staff will notify us shortly after your delivery.

After I deliver my baby (or babies), when will the pediatrician see us?
You can expect to see your pediatrician (or the pediatrician covering) within 24 hours of your delivery, usually between 7:00am and 10:00am. Your pediatrician will likely see your baby or babies daily until you go home.
