Can I meet one of the pediatricians prior to joining your practice?
Yes you can! While not a requirement, first-time parents often choose to meet one of the pediatricians prior to their "new arrival". Simply call to schedule an appointment during clinic hours if you would like this opportunity. There is no fee for this visit.

What hospitals do the pediatricians go to?
Our pediatricians all have staff privileges at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center, West Allis Memorial Hospital, and Elmbrook Memorial Hospital. Select physicians also cover Columbia/St. Mary's (both campuses), and Froedert Hospital.

How will the pediatrician know to come to the hospital after our delivery?
When you pre-register or register at the hospital before your delivery, indicate on the admission form who you intend to have as your pediatrician. After you deliver, there is no need to call us. Either the hospital will call us or we will check in on a daily basis.

After I deliver my baby (or babies), when will the pediatrician see us?
With rare exceptions, you can expect to see your pediatrician (or the pediatrician covering) within 24 hours of your delivery, usually between 7:00am and 10:00am. We usually will continue to see the baby or babies every day until you go home.

When is my child too old to see a pediatrician?
We feel that this is question is best left up to the child! If he/she feels comfortable seeing us, we frequently see "kids" well into college. If "grown up" problems requiring specialty care arise, we may refer him/her to an adult physician or specialist. At any time, if your child would rather see an internal medicine physician or family practitioner, we fully support him/her in that decision, even if they are under 18 years old. Ask us and we can provide you with trusted physicians in the area if he/she so chooses.

My child is out of prescription refills, what do I do?
Call our office during regularly scheduled clinic hours Monday through Friday. We are unable to process refill requests on weekends. After speaking with us, you may either come by to pick up a written prescription or you may have your pharmacy call us. Refills will only be honored if the patient has been seen within the last 12 months for a full well-child visit. This is necessary in order to protect the health of your child. Refills for all ADHD medications except Strattera® must either be picked up, or you may provide us with self-addressed stamped envelopes to be mailed to you. If you choose to provide us with envelopes, you will still need to call us to request the refill.

Can I get this form signed?
We are happy to sign or complete athletic, daycare, school, camp and any other forms that relate to the health status of your child. We can only do so with parental permission (or the patient's if older than 18 years). However, we require that the patient has been seen within the last 12 months for a full well-child visit before filling out any forms; sick visits do not qualify. This is necessary in order to provide accurate information and is meant to protect the health of the child as well as the liability of both the institution requesting the form and that of our practice.
